Their Roots
Founded in 1993 by Michael and Alla Svetlana Ward, Tamborine Mountain Distillery emerged as the third oldest distillery in Queensland. What started as a dream on Beacon Road, Tamborine Mountain, transformed a run-down citrus and avocado orchard into a thriving family distillery. Michael Ward's green thumb planted the seeds of a rich legacy, with every tree a testament to their commitment.
Crafted Excellence
For over a quarter of a century, Tamborine Mountain Distillery has been a pioneer in crafting boutique liqueurs and spirits. Drawing upon Alla's distilling expertise from her younger years and an abundance of local fruits, the Wards turned their property into a haven of artisanal spirits. The result: over 300 international awards, making them the pride of the new Millennium, as well as some amazing flavour for us to try!
Artisanal Alchemy
At the heart of Tamborine Mountain Distillery lies an artisanal approach, with multiple distillations, natural ingredients, and native flora shaping each sip into a unique experience. From handmade copper pot stills to large multi-column reflux stills, their master distiller orchestrates a symphony of flavors, creating the essence that defines TMD products.
A Legacy Reimagined
In 2017, Gordon and Dr Shumei Hou took the reins of Tamborine Mountain Distillery with a vision to expand its iconic legacy globally. The ambitious plan led to the relocation of the distillery to a larger and modernized space at MacDonnell Road. Maintaining the historical charm while embracing innovation became the essence of this significant undertaking.
Gordon's journey is marked by academic prowess, his repertoire boasts over 200 Certified Organic formulations, showcasing his mastery of the art of distillation. His pioneering work extends to unique applications of Australian botanicals, from specialized alcoholic concoctions to essential oils and well-being treatments.
